Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has unveiled a comprehensive plan to tackle hunger in the state through the distribution of humanitarian aid.
Speaking at the kickoff event held at the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi, Governor Mohammed emphasized the importance of addressing food insecurity, particularly during these challenging times.
The governor urged farmers to leverage the upcoming rainy season to bolster food production and ensure adequate food supplies for the state.
He announced that his administration had earmarked 2 billion naira for the procurement of grains to support the initiative.
The distribution of palliative measures, which includes essential food items, as noticed by The Trumpet, is part of the government’s efforts to provide relief to citizens facing hardships.

Mohammed acknowledged the contributions of various agencies, including the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Northeast Development Commission (NEDC), and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, towards the initiative.
To ensure transparency and accountability, the governor disclosed that committees headed by the Chief of Staff have been constituted to oversee the procurement, security, and fair distribution to beneficiaries.
He warned that any lapses or irregularities would be met with strict consequences.
Item distributed include 40,000 bags of maize, 40,000 bags of millet, 20,000 bags of rice, and 10,000 bags of sugar.
