Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has donated N300 million to support victims of the recent flood disaster in Mokwa Local Government Council of Niger State.
Gov. Zulum made the announcement during a condolence visit to his Niger State counterpart, Governor Mohammed Bago, at the Government House in Minna.
The governor expressed deep sympathy over the tragic incident, which claimed several lives and caused widespread destruction of property and livelihoods.
He said the donation was meant to complement the efforts of the Niger State Government in managing the aftermath of the disaster.
“On behalf of the government and people of Borno State, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the people of Niger over this unfortunate incident,” Gov. Zulum said.
He also emphasized the need for sub-national governments across Nigeria to collaborate more closely in tackling the growing impact of climate change on communities.

Responding, Governor Bago expressed gratitude for the support, describing Gov. Zulum’s gesture as timely and deeply appreciated.
He commended Gov. Zulum’s leadership qualities, highlighting his compassion, resilience, and proactive approach to governance.
“This donation is a great show of love and solidarity,” Gov. Bago said.
“We assure you it will be properly utilized to bring relief to the victims. We are also intensifying advocacy for people to move away from flood-prone areas to prevent future occurrences.”
