Governor Abba Yusuf has urged intending pilgrims from Kano State to conduct themselves in an orderly and responsible manner during the 2026 Hajj exercise in Saudi Arabia.
The governor also announced a donation of 200 Saudi Riyals to each pilgrim from the state as part of efforts to support them during the pilgrimage.
According to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mustapha Muhammad, Gov. Yusuf made the appeal on Sunday at the Kano Hajj Camp during a practical demonstration exercise for intending pilgrims.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Murtala Garo, the governor said pilgrims must serve as good ambassadors of Kano State and Nigeria while in the Holy Land.
“You are going to a land where millions of Muslims from across the world gather. Let your conduct reflect discipline, humility, brotherhood and the true spirit of Islam.
“Abide by the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and follow instructions from officials,” he stated.
The governor noted that the behaviour of pilgrims would reflect the values and image of the society they represent, urging them to remain law-abiding throughout the exercise.
He further announced the donation of free Ihram materials to all intending pilgrims from the state – with samples distributed to some beneficiaries by the deputy governor during the event.
