Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has disbursed N334 million to 6,680 women under the state’s empowerment programme.
Speaking during the disbursement in Kano, the governor said the initiative is aimed at reducing poverty and improving the livelihoods of women across the 44 local government areas of the state.
He stated that each beneficiary would receive a monthly stipend of N50,000, adding that the number of beneficiaries had increased from 5,200 to 6,680.
Gov. Yusuf described the programme as a strategic intervention to boost grassroots economic activities and support vulnerable households.
He said: “This initiative is part of our commitment to uplifting our people and ensuring that no one is left behind.”
The governor noted that the programme aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, which focuses on improving the welfare of Nigerians.
He disclosed that the state had earlier disbursed over N800 million to more than 5,300 youths under its youth empowerment scheme, while other interventions targeted widows and vulnerable groups through mass wedding schemes and provision of start-up capital.
