Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State, has revealed plans by his administration to ensure that the abandoned multi-million naira water fountain at the King’s Square, Benin City, is revived.
Gov. Okpebholo disclosed this while speaking to journalists after an inspection tour of the facility, built by the Adams Oshiomhole administration.
The water fountain in the past, attracted thousands of fun -seekers to the museum, especially during festive periods. However, for the last eight years, it has suffered a total lack of maintenance.
Oshiomhole’s administration embarked on the project as part of its urban renewal agenda, but it was abandoned by the administration of former Governor Godwin Obaseki, leaving the multi-million naira project to rot away.

“I remember how beautiful this place was when Oshiomhole was the governor of Edo State. My coming here is to see how to revive it. We want to clean up this place, so that people can come here for recreation or relaxation.
“This place has been abandoned for too long now, but my administration wants to revive it so that Edo people can come here with their families to have good times during weekdays, weekends and holidays,” Gov. Okpebholo added.
