Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has inspected the ongoing N13bn Chuba Okadigbo’s international airport runway rehabilitation, which was re-awarded to Infrastructure Development Company.
The Trumpet gathered that the ongoing Chuba Okadigbo airport runway rehabilitation was billed to be completed in a period of eight months.
Governor Nwifuru, in a quest to meet the completion deadline, on Friday visited the airport located at Onueke, Ezza South LGA to inspect the level and quality of work done by the contractor.
Nwifuru, who visited the airport alongside his key cabinet members and security agencies, said he was satisfied with the level and quality of work done, but urged the contractor to ensure speedy completion of the runway.
The commissioner for Aviation and transport technology, Mrs Ngozi Obichukwu who spoke to newsmen shortly after the governor’s visit, said that the Chuba Okadigbo’s runway airport, when completed will attract investors to the state, and as such, will boost the internally Generated Revenue, IGR, of the state.

She lauded the governor Nwifuru, for his commitment and determination efforts ensure that the airport’s runway rehabilitation is completed within the specified period.
Obichukwu further reiterated the committed efforts of the Ministry of Aviation and Transport Technology, ensuring that the governor’s desire and commitment to delivering a quality runway, where both international and local flights will land, is achieved.
She, however, stated that the airport would soon commence flight operation as soon as the asphalting of the runway is completed, and will be done following the quality of work demanded by the governor.
