Girona secured their first LaLiga win of the season in spectacular fashion, delivering a resounding 4-0 victory over Osasuna on Thursday. Goals from Bryan Gil, Viktor Tsygankov, Abel Ruiz, and Cristhian Stuani sealed the dominant performance, boosting Girona to seventh place in the LaLiga standings.
After a rocky start to the season, which included a disappointing draw against Real Betis and a 3-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid, Girona needed a statement win—and they delivered. The team, energized by a passionate home crowd, took control of the match from the outset, thanks largely to an electrifying performance by Bryan Gil, who joined the squad on a season-long loan from Tottenham in July.
Gil was a constant threat, and his persistence paid off in the 34th minute when he acrobatically volleyed a cross from Tsygankov past the Osasuna goalkeeper to open the scoring. This breakthrough came after a long-range strike from Gil in the 22nd minute was initially blocked, setting the tone for Girona’s relentless attack.

Girona continued to apply pressure, and it wasn’t long before they doubled their lead. In the 53rd minute, Viktor Tsygankov capitalized on a defensive error by Lucas Torro, who missed a clearance, leaving the Ukrainian midfielder free to score with a clinical finish inside the box.
Just three minutes later, Abel Ruiz added to Osasuna’s misery with a stunning strike into the top corner, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance. The victory was sealed in stoppage time when Cristhian Stuani, coming off the bench, tapped in the fourth goal from a Donny van de Beek cross, completing the rout.
With this commanding win, Girona climbed to seventh place in the LaLiga table, earning four points from their first three matches. The victory sends a clear message that Girona is back on track and ready to compete at the highest level this season.
