An army general and his wife, who were recently abducted by armed men, have regained their freedom after several days in captivity, and have since made a controversial appeal calling for the release of individuals allegedly linked to their abductors and currently being held by authorities.
However, the identities of the senior military officer and his wife were not disclosed in a circulating social media video at the time of filing this report.
Following their release, the couple urged authorities to review the detention of persons they described as associates of the abductors, appealing for interventions they believe could help reduce further cycles of kidnapping and violence.
The wife, speaking in Hausa language shortly after regaining freedom, specifically called for the release of three individuals she identified as Nasiru, Aminu, and Sani, who she claimed were connected to the abductors and are reportedly being held in custody under similar circumstances.

She also appealed for the recovery and return of livestock and other property allegedly taken during the incident, including cows, goats, and other valuables, stressing that addressing both human and material losses could support reconciliation efforts and help ease tensions in affected communities.
In her appeal, she urged authorities and local government leaders to intensify engagement with security agencies and community stakeholders to explore dialogue-based approaches aimed at reducing further abductions.
The incident adds to ongoing concerns over kidnapping and banditry in several northern states, where residents continue to call for stronger security operations and sustainable peace-building measures.
Security authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the circumstances surrounding the release or clarify the status of individuals mentioned in the appeal.
