The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has acknowledged receipts of the results of the congress that re-elected Musa Ahmadu-Kida as the President of Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) for another four-year tenure.
Signed by Secretary-General Andreas Zagklis on March 7th, the FIBA’s letter informed the NBBF that it has taken note of the persons elected by the congress in Benin that ushered in new executives on January 31, 2022.
FIBA, while congratulating the Musa Andreas Zagklis led NBBF, used the opportunity available to request the confirmation of other members of the board according to the dictate of the NBBF constitution.
FIBA’s letter reads in part: FIBA acknowledges receipt of the results of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) Elective Congress held in Benin City on 31 January 2022. Accordingly, FIBA takes note of the election of the following persons to the NBBF Board for the following four (4) years.

“FIBA takes the opportunity to request your confirmation as to the remaining members of the NBBF Board as per article 21.2 (d) to (I) of the NBBF Constitution.
“FIBA congratulates all the elected members and looks forward to close collaboration in furtherance of the development of basketball in Nigeria,” it stated.
Following this development, it is unclear if it will bring an end to the factional crises existing in the NBBF which ensued on January 31, 2022 from two parallel congresses held in the country.
The Trumpet reliably gathered that the one held in Benin ushered back Musa Ahmadu-Kida as President while Mark Igoche emerged as the President in the congress held in Abuja.
Also, The Trumpet tried contacting Mark Igoche to know his reaction towards the recognition accorded to the Musa Ahmadu-Kida-led NBBF faction by FIBA, but all effort proved abortive.
