The federal government has launched a presidential initiative for the empowerment of youth in agriculture, popularly known as ‘The Green Money Project’.
Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Agriculture, Abiodun Yinusa, speaking at the launch of the programme at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, said the project aims to tap into Nigeria’s agricultural potential by empowering young people by utilizing the country’s natural resources and opportunities in the agricultural sector.
Yinusa noted that the initiative aligns with President Tinubu’s urgent call to address food security in Nigeria.
He mentioned that the initiative will work alongside the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to get more young people involved in farming.
The presidential aide highlighted several challenges facing the country, including high unemployment, poverty, food shortages, and the underuse of agriculture by young Nigerians.
Yinusa reassured that the Tinubu administration is dedicated to helping the youth take a leading role in changing the landscape of agriculture in Nigeria.

The initiative plans to empower young Nigerians by teaching them modern farming techniques, innovative technologies, and sustainable practices.
It will take place in various universities, youth centers, and technical colleges across the nation, all to help achieve zero hunger in Nigeria.
The Project Coordinator, Mr. Charles Folayan,, mentioned that the project will focus on developing useful data, providing training, offering resources, and providing mentorship and pathways to market.
In his comments, Prof. Olushola Kehinde, the Vice Chancellor of FUNAAB, expressed gratitude to the government for selecting the university as a partner in this initiative.
He described the programme as a timely and significant effort to improve food production and value in the agricultural sector.
