An explosion has claimed the life of four people with many others injured in the ancient city of Okene, the headquarters of Kogi Central Senatorial district and the home town of Governor Yahaya Bello.
The explosion occurred a few hours before the expected visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to Kogi State today. A source has it that the explosion was a bomb blast while others said it was a transformer explosion.
The explosion occurred just a few meters from the Ohinoyi’s palace at Kuroko Street in Okene killing four and injuring others. As at the time of filling this report, the number of those injured was not known.

The Trumpet gathered that the governor had been in Okene since yesterday in anticipation of the first visit of the president to the state since he became the governor on January 27, 2016.
Buhari is expected in Okene where he will hold a town hall meeting with residents of Kogi State and commission some projects by the governor in the Senatorial district before transiting to Lokoja, the state capital to continue the commissioning of other major projects.
