Former president Olusegun Obasanjo will commission the 23.4km Eket- Etinan road in Akwa Ibom on Tuesday as part of activities to mark Governor Udom Emmanuel’s completion agenda in the state.
Speaking in Eket on Monday while conducting newsmen round the project site, the Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Research and Documentation, Hon Essien Ndueso, said the road has three bridges, sides drain and other road features that will make it durable.
Ndueso explained that the choice of Obasanjo to inaugurate the road was anchored on the fact that the former president is astute development leader of Nigeria.
“I know that whenever we have a turnkey project like this, Obasanjo who is an astute development leader of this country, is always proud to identify with such a project. It is not surprising that he will be here on Tuesday to commission the project,” Ndueso said.

He said the dual carriage road has three bridges, outfalls drainages and several road features to make it stand the test of time.
“As always said, Governor Udom Emmanuel is not ready to do projects that will just earn him applause but more interested in projects that connect the hearts of the people,” he added.
He recalled that the people of Eket were passing through internal roads in neighbouring local government areas of Nsit Ubium and Nsit Ibom council areas before they could access Uyo, the capital city.
He said the road would ameliorate the suffering of the people and connect them to the state capital.
