Enugu APC Chieftain condemns killing of two youth leaders

The immediate past Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Enugu State, Dr Ben Nwoye has condemned what he called targeted killing of the party’s youth leaders in the State.

He urged security agencies to rise to the occasion by ensuring the arrest of the perpetrators.

Nwoye, who is also the convener of Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign, Enugu State Chapter made the call during a prayer session for the repose of the souls of two APC youth leaders, Lucky Idoko and Ugwuoke Victor, who were gruesomely murdered by yet to identified gunmen at different locations in Igboeze South Local Government Area of Enugu State last Saturday.

The APC Chieftain, who could not control his emotion, lamented that the recent incident had brought to four the number of APC youths that have been sent to their untimely grave.

He also recalled how an attempted assassination on his life was made in 2018 at his Enugu residence by yet-to-be-identified hoodlums who invaded his residence in the early hours of the fateful day but gave glory to God that he survived the attempted assassination.

He urged the party faithful not to be deterred by what he described as bad air blowing in the Enugu APC, stressing that political parties ought to be all about fraternity and relationship and not killing of members.

Nwoye, who is also a Federal Commissioner representing Southeast in the FCCP, encouraged members of the party not to abandon the families of the deceased.

He, however, appealed to politicians in the State to eschew politics of bitterness, stressing that “shedding of human blood in the name of politics remains an evil act; perpetrators will definitely face judgment before God.”

The APC stalwart used the prayer session to inaugurate some support groups for the APC presidential flagbearer such as the Asiwaju Women Cooperative Society, APC Youths Taskforce for Tinubu, Jagaban Coalition, among others.

“I want to use this medium to call on Enugu and Southeast electorates to embrace the APC presidential hopeful, Ahmed Bola Tinubu in the 2023 election because of his antecedents and his capacity to turn the country positively if given the mandate,” he stated.
