The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has issued an urgent advisory to customers, urging them to upgrade their prepaid meters before November 24, 2024. This mandatory upgrade is necessary due to the global Token Identifier (TID) rollover, which affects all Standard Transfer Specification (STS) compliant prepaid meters worldwide.
EEDC has, in different awareness about this issue, informed customers that all STS prepaid meters will stop accepting credit tokens after the deadline unless they are upgraded. This notification was emphasized in a statement released on Sunday by Mr. Emeka Ezeh, Head of Corporate Communications at EEDC, and obtained by The Trumpet.
According to Mr. Ezeh, while meters that aren’t upgraded will still function with previously loaded credit, they will be unable to accept new tokens after November 24.

The process is simple: customers need to input each set of 20 digits, pressing “enter” after each set. This upgrade is free, with no additional costs to customers.
EEDC advises customers to load any unused tokens they previously purchased before initiating the upgrade with the Key Change Tokens. Once the meter is upgraded, any remaining old tokens will become invalid, and there will be no refunds.
Customers can recharge their meters through EEDC’s online platform, “EnergyPay,” by visiting the official website at www.enugudisco.com and selecting “Make Payment,” or by using the EEDC Connect App.
