The Department of State Services (DSS) has announced the arrest of three more suspects allegedly linked to the abduction of the Dean of Agriculture of the Nasarawa State University, Prof. Samuel Okunsebor.

The suspects were arrested on Friday night at a local brothel, along the Mararaban Akunza axis of the Lafia-Makurdi Highway, according to a security source.
Prof. Okunsebor was abducted by gunmen in the early hours of Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Mile Uku, a border community between Lafia and Nasarawa-Eggon Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State.
He was rescued by DSS operatives two days later. Two suspects, including a woman, were arrested during the operation that led to the don’s rescue.
The latest arrest brings to five the number of suspects apprehended in connection with the abduction, according to the source.

The source identified the newly arrested suspects as 25-year-old Yakubu Abubakar, also known as Black or Starboy, from the Doemak tribe in Plateau State; 37-year-old Usman Abubakar Mairiga; and 27-year-old Sale Babauro Abubakar.
Mairiga is Hausa, while Sale Babauro Abubakar is Fulani, the source said. The source said the suspects were being held at the DSS State Command for further investigation.
Their detention, the source added, follows the issuance of a valid detention warrant by a Magistrate’s Court.
The arrests are part of ongoing efforts by the security agency to identify and apprehend other members of the gang, allegedly involved in the kidnapping of the university don.
