Nollywood actor and now politician, Desmond Elliot has shared how he narrowly escaped a dangerous situation during the #EndSARS protests in October 2020.
The protests was aimed at ending police brutality, with many young people taking to the streets to demand the disbanding of a controversial police unit known as the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
At that time, a video emerged of Elliot criticizing the protesters while speaking at the Lagos State House of Assembly.
He later revealed that a mob set fire to his office while he was inside.
In an interview with Nollywood On Radio, Elliot explained that during the curfew imposed because of the protests, many troublemakers came to the area where he lived in Surulere, and he couldn’t go home.

He was stuck in Lekki, so he decided to return to his office in Surulere to spend the night.
While he was in his office, watching TV and unaware of the danger approaching, he suddenly heard his landlady’s daughter shouting that trouble was brewing.
It wasn’t until a flaming bottle filled with fuel was thrown through the window that he realized just how serious the situation had become.
The fire quickly spread, and in a panic, he called his chief of staff for help.
He described the experience as terrifying, saying that he had never been so scared in his life.
