The Delta State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, has assured prospective nursing students that admission into the Delta State Colleges of Nursing Sciences will be strictly merit-based. The commissioner emphasized this in a statement over the weekend, advising applicants to avoid any fraudulent means of securing admission.
Dr. Onojaeme’s remarks come amidst reports of a certain individual, identified as Barrister Barry, allegedly extorting money from unsuspecting students under the guise of securing admission into the 2024/2025 academic session of the Nursing Colleges. The Commissioner strongly warned against dealing with the said individual, stressing that Barrister Barry is neither affiliated with the Ministry of Health nor any of the Colleges.

“Parents, prospective students, and the general public are advised to steer clear of this fraudulent agent. Barrister Barry is not authorized by the Ministry or the Colleges to facilitate admissions,” Dr. Onojaeme stated.
He further cautioned, “Anyone found fronting as an admission agent for staff members of the Ministry, Colleges, or government officials will face severe legal consequences. The state government will not tolerate any form of malpractice.”
The Health Commissioner reaffirmed that admissions into the Colleges of Nursing Sciences will be based on merit, urging candidates to prepare rigorously for the entrance exams. “Only those who meet the cut-off mark will be considered for admission,” the statement concluded.
