The Delta State Fire Service Command has secured approval for the establishment of a new fire service post in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area, in a move aimed at strengthening emergency response and improving fire safety across the region.
The approval followed a courtesy visit by officials of the Delta State Fire Service led by Eugene Oziwele to the Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area, Prince Godwin Ogorugba, where discussions focused on the urgent need for a dedicated firefighting facility in the area.

During the meeting, Oziwele stressed the importance of establishing a permanent operational base in Ozoro to address increasing cases of fire outbreaks and reduce response time during emergencies.
He noted that the absence of nearby firefighting infrastructure has posed challenges in containing fire incidents promptly, often leading to significant property damage and safety risks.
Council Chairman Prince Godwin Ogorugba expressed full support for the initiative, describing the establishment of a fire service post as critical to protecting lives, businesses and public infrastructure within the local government area.
He approved the allocation of office space within the council secretariat to enable the fire service commence operations immediately while plans for a permanent structure are being developed.

According to him, the project will not only improve emergency response capabilities but also create job opportunities for youths and residents of the area.
Officials of the Delta State Fire Service also disclosed that the proposed office would serve as a centre for public sensitisation on fire prevention, safety awareness and emergency preparedness.
Members of the delegation included the State Controller of the Fire Service Command, Eugene Oziwele, alongside administrative officials and other members of the command.
The latest development forms part of broader efforts by the Delta State Government to strengthen emergency management infrastructure and improve disaster response services across communities in the state.
