The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has commended the outcome of its senatorial primaries, describing the exercise as credible and conducted in accordance with laid-down regulations.
In a statement released on Tuesday by the state Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, the party congratulated Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Senator Ede Dafinone, and Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas on securing the party’s tickets for Delta North, Delta Central, and Delta South, respectively.
The APC noted that the primaries reflected the collective decision of party members, while also acknowledging the role played by other aspirants and stakeholders in ensuring a smooth process.
According to the statement, the exercise adhered to both the party’s internal guidelines and the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2026.
It emphasized that due process was followed, particularly in the formal declaration of results by the designated National Assembly Primary Election Committee.

The committee, chaired by Eugene Odo with Musa Amagbor serving as secretary, was said to have carried out its responsibilities in line with Section 9(ii)(e) of the party’s guidelines, which mandates the official announcement of primary election outcomes.
The party maintained that the conduct of the primaries underscores its commitment to internal democracy, transparency, and fairness in the selection of candidates.
Calling for cohesion ahead of the next phase of the electoral process, the APC urged members to unite in support of the party’s candidates, stressing that collective effort would be crucial in future contests.
It also drew attention to the state House of Assembly direct primaries scheduled for Wednesday, May 20, 2026, encouraging eligible members across the state to participate in the exercise in an orderly manner.
The party reiterated its resolve to uphold credible democratic practices as it prepares for the forthcoming elections.
