Afrobeats superstar Davido has revealed plans to launch a major music residency in Lagos this December, drawing inspiration from Puerto Rican global star Bad Bunny.
Davido disclosed the plan during an interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra, where he explained that he wants to replicate the model used by Bad Bunny, whose series of concerts in Puerto Rico attracted fans who travelled from different parts of the world to experience the shows.
The singer said he was inspired by the concept and is preparing to introduce a similar experience in Lagos.
“Bad Bunny just did a tour. All the shows were in one place, Puerto Rico. People were flying in from LA, Atlanta and all over. I’m about to announce my residency too, in Lagos, December. Doing the same thing Bad Bunny did.”

The proposed Lagos residency is expected to feature a series of concerts rather than a single performance, potentially giving fans multiple opportunities to see Davido live during the festive season.
The initiative could also attract international visitors to Lagos, particularly fans of Afrobeats who may travel to Nigeria specifically for the concerts.
Beyond the music, the residency could provide a boost to Lagos’ entertainment and tourism sectors, with hotels, restaurants, transportation providers and other businesses potentially benefiting from an influx of visitors.
Davido has continued to play a significant role in taking Afrobeats to international audiences through global tours, major collaborations and high-profile performances.
With the planned residency, the singer appears set to further establish Lagos as a major destination for global music and entertainment.
