Thirty students of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) have been offered automatic employment by the Dangote Group upon graduation after participating in an educational tour of the Dangote Refinery and Fertilizer Plant in Lagos.
The announcement was made by FUTO Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nnenna Oti, who described the gesture as a remarkable recognition of the students and the university’s commitment to academic excellence and national development.
According to Professor Oti, the employment offer came directly from the President of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, following the three-day educational tour of the refinery and fertilizer complex held from June 14 to 16, 2026.
Sharing the development in a social media post, the Vice-Chancellor said Dangote informed her that the automatic employment offer was in recognition of her integrity, dedication to national service, and contributions to humanity.
“Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group of Companies, just called and offered the 30 FUTO students I took on tour of his refinery and fertilizer plant (June 14–16, 2026) in Lagos automatic employment upon graduation,” she wrote.
“He said this is to honour my integrity and national service to Nigeria and humanity.”

An emotional Professor Oti expressed gratitude for the recognition, describing it as one of the greatest moments of her career.
“What an honour! What a glorious way to bow out! What else can I ask for? Lord, to You alone be all the glory. I am so emotional right now,” she added.
The employment offer is expected to boost the morale of the beneficiaries and further strengthen collaboration between academia and industry by providing young graduates with direct pathways into the workforce.
The Dangote Refinery and Fertilizer Plant has increasingly become a destination for educational and industrial tours, giving students practical exposure to one of Africa’s largest industrial complexes while promoting skills development and career opportunities.
