The internal crisis within the All Progressives Congress in Cross River State reached a breaking point as the state executive committee voted to remove Alphonsus Eba from his position as chairman. His removal followed sustained calls from influential party blocs urging him to step aside, appeals he consistently ignored.
In the aftermath of the decision, Ntufam Ekum Ojogu stepped in as acting chairman. He is expected to steer the party’s affairs until a state congress is held, where his role will be formally confirmed. Party officials say the transition follows Section 17(6) of the APC constitution, which permits the executive committee to appoint an acting chairman when a substantive chair is taken out of office.
