Despite the ongoing economic challenges and limited funds, the Isoko South Local Government Area has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the welfare of its teachers. The council’s dedication was highlighted during a recent meeting between the Local Government Chairman, Comrade Warri Ovoke Friday, and the executives of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Isoko South Wing.
During the meeting, NUT Chairman Mr. Dan Odhomo led the delegation to present key demands and concerns to the local government. In response, Comrade Ovoke emphasized the crucial role teachers play in shaping the education sector and building a better society through the promotion of good morals and quality education.
Comrade Ovoke praised the teachers for their dedication and hard work, stating that their efforts have not gone unnoticed. He assured them that the local government remains committed to ensuring regular payment of salaries, even in the face of financial constraints. The council is also focused on improving school infrastructure and providing necessary instructional materials to enhance the quality of education in the area.
“Our administration is dedicated to the education sector, with a special focus on integrating agricultural education in our schools. We will continue to prioritize teachers’ welfare, ensuring that salaries are paid on time, and we are committed to addressing the challenges you face,” Comrade Ovoke said.

Earlier in the meeting, NUT Chairman Mr. Dan Odhomo commended the local government for its prompt payment of last month’s salaries to primary school teachers. However, he also highlighted several pressing issues that need urgent attention.
These include: The establishment of an Education Board for Isoko South, which will help streamline educational policies and improve the management of schools in the area. Provision of accurate pay slips. Payment of promotion arrears. Improvement of School Infrastructure and Balancing Pay Scales,.which will help balance the salaries of private school teachers with those in government schools.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Odhomo assured the local government of the teachers’ continued commitment to raising the standard of education in Isoko South. He expressed optimism that with the council’s support, Isoko South will soon become a model for educational excellence in Delta State.
