BBC Sports Africa has crowned Christine Mboma as the BBC African Sports Personality of the year 2021.
The 18 years old Namibian is the first woman to ever win the award as revealed by BBC Sports Africa’s presenter, Celestine Karoney. She received the diadem virtually due to the Covid 19 pandemic.

As an underdog, the youngster recently won a silver medal in the highly competitive finals of the 200m Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Relative to her performances, she is the new Diamond League and Under-20 World champion over the distance improving her record mark to 21.78 seconds.
It is noteworthy to state that Mboma becomes the first Namibian woman to win a women’s Olympic medal, breaking a world under-20 and African senior records.
