Chelsea snapped a late victory against Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge extending its unbeaten run in the Premier League to six matches after it lost to Manchester City at the Etihad on January 15.

The troubled Blues, presently victimised due to the sanctions on Roman Abramovich by the UK government, got a goal 89th-minute from Kai Havertz through an assist provided by Jorginho to secure maximum points over the Magpies.

However, the resurgent Newcastle battling to beat the drop zone put a good run after it lost to Manchester City on December 19 to record a total of 9 Premier League matches without a loss, The Trumpet gathered.

Eddie Howe’s men have been impressive in the second half of the English Premier League (EPL) campaign and have risen four steps above the deep with 31 points and 14th on the EPL table.

However, the North London club undeterred by the show put up by the visitors grabbed the moment to prepare adequately for its Champions League second-leg clash with LOSC Lille on Wednesday, 16 March, at Stade Pierre Mauroy.
