Calvin Bassey to undergo Ajax medical soon

Rangers defender Calvin Bassey is close to undergoing a medical to join Dutch topflight Ajax after a report divulged that both clubs are set to agree a £19 fee plus add-ons for the Super Eagle.

According to transfer market guru, Fabrizio Romano, the 22-year-old will undergo a medical test soon which will bring speculations about growing interest from Aston Villa to an end. The Trumpet Gathered

Recall that the Nigeria international was spectacular last season for Gers where they reached the Europa League final with Frankfurt and lost on penalty shootouts in Seville after playing a 1-1 draw.

Calvin was a defensive rock, who is versatile on either the central defensive position or the left-wing back position; positions Manchester Unitedbound Lisandro Martinez revelled in at Ajax for Erik ten Hag.

Consequently, Rangers head coach Van Bronckhorst will face a big challenge to replace the departing versatile Super Eagle but the Dutchman will be boosted by a significant transfer windfall, a Scottish report claimed.
