Speaking during the meeting, Diden pledged to withdraw the suit he instituted against Senator Joel-Onowakpo over the APC senatorial primary.

He also assured the delegation of his commitment to work with the senator and mobilise his supporters towards securing victory for the APC in Delta South in the 2027 election.

Ejele, Joel-Onowakpo Dispute Over 2027 APC Ticket

The reconciliation comes after a legal dispute over the outcome of the APC direct primary conducted on May 18, 2026.

Diden, a former Chairman of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), had approached the Federal High Court in Abuja, challenging the emergence of Senator Joel-Onowakpo as the APC candidate for the 2027 Delta South Senatorial election.

The suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1094/2026, was scheduled for definite hearing on July 6, 2026, after Justice Mohammed Garba Umar directed the parties to file and exchange outstanding court processes.

Diden had asked the court to declare him the authentic winner of the APC direct primary, claiming that he secured the highest number of lawful votes cast during the exercise.

The latest reconciliation between Ejele and Joel-Onowakpo could bring an end to the legal dispute and strengthen the APC’s preparations for the 2027 senatorial election in Delta South.
