The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Emomotimi Guwor, alongside 21 state legislators have formally defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Announcing the defection during plenary, Speaker Guwor disclosed that he received 22 letters, including his own from members who expressed their intention to dump the PDP for the APC.
He stated that the decision was reached unanimously by the affected legislators, citing the lingering divisions within the South South Zonal Executive of the PDP and the deepening crisis at the party’s national level.

“With this development, the Delta State House of Assembly is now fully an APC House,” the speaker noted.
This mass defection marks a significant turning point in Delta politics, effectively altering the state’s legislative balance and further diminishing the PDP’s once-formidable hold on the state.
This is coming as a natural progression following the earlier defections of key political heavyweights, including Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
