The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to transforming Nigeria’s education system through wide-ranging reforms in skills development, digital learning, research, and the creative economy under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade.

The reforms were highlighted at the Renewed Hope Conversations, University of Abuja Edition, where the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, engaged stakeholders on efforts to build a future-ready education system aligned with global standards.

The Minister said Nigeria is gradually shifting from a theory-based learning model to a system driven by skills acquisition, innovation, and technology. He noted that emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence, data science, and other digital technologies are being integrated into school curricula to enhance relevance and employability.

He also explained that entrepreneurship programmes, including the Entrepreneurial and Innovation-Based Curriculum (EIBC), are being strengthened to promote job creation among young Nigerians.

According to him, institutions are also benefiting from improved digital infrastructure, including mini-grid power solutions, expanded internet connectivity, and learning management systems supported by a nationwide fibre rollout.

Alausa further disclosed that the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme has already recorded over 160,000 beneficiaries, with increasing demand for broader participation across the country.

He added that new initiatives such as the Student Venture Capital Grant and the proposed National Research and Development Fund are designed to support innovation, research commercialisation, and youth entrepreneurship.

The Minister stressed that the reforms are aimed at equipping Nigerian youths with practical skills and creating pathways for sustainable employment and innovation-driven growth.
