Global music icon Beyoncé made a highly anticipated return to the Met Gala after a 10-year hiatus, co-chairing the 2026 edition held on May 4 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The prestigious fundraising event for the Costume Institute embraced the theme: “Costume Art,” with a dress code of “Fashion Is Art,” marking the unveiling of new permanent gallery exhibitions.
Beyoncé joined fellow co-chairs Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour to host the star-studded evening.
She walked the red carpet alongside her husband, Jay-Z, and their daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, who made her debut at the high-profile event.
In a video shared on Instagram, the singer described the moment as special, noting the joy of attending the gala with her daughter.
“It feels surreal to be here because my daughter is here, and it’s incredible to share this experience with her,” she said.
For the occasion, Beyoncé wore a custom creation by Olivier Rousteing of Balmain, featuring a mesh base adorned with a diamond-encrusted skeletal design and matching gloves.
Her appearance marked her first at the gala since 2016, drawing widespread attention and sparking conversations about a new creative phase following her Cowboy Carter project.
The event also saw notable family moments, including Nicole Kidman attending with her daughter, while other celebrities delivered bold interpretations of the theme through sculptural, art-inspired designs.
Among the standout arrivals was Rihanna, who made a dramatic late entrance in signature fashion.
The 2026 Met Gala once again reinforced its status as a global stage where fashion, celebrity, and artistic expression converge.
