Be careful with Okada riders, Amotekun boss warns Ondo residents

By Friday Omosola

Following the rise in daylight robbery in Ondo State by Okada riders, the Commander of the State Security Network Agency codenamed Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, has warned citizens of the state to be careful while boarding commercial motorcycles popularly known as Okada.

The warning is coming after Corps arrested 80 motorcycle operators for flouting the restriction order banning the late operation of motorcyclists and night clubbing in the state.

Adeleye said the state Government did not ban Okada operations during day time but restricted it from 6 pm to 6 am in the state.

“We have noticed that Okada riders are now constituting a nuisance in the state and findings revealed that their actions followed Amotekun’s resolve to prevent them from robbing innocent and unsuspecting citizens at night.

“They have resorted to carrying out their nefarious activities in the daylight.

The Special Adviser to the state governor on security matters warned people of the state to be more vigilant while boarding Okada to obscure places.

” The rate of criminal activities is becoming more alarming, especially now that the yuletide season is fast approaching.

“So, I want to appeal to residents of the state, to be extra careful while taking Okada to places that are not within the town, saying those are the areas where they unleash terror on their unsuspecting victims.”

The Amotekun boss further advised residents of the state to report all categories of abuse, robbery, and kidnap cases to the nearest Amotekun control posts in the state, saying the Command remains committed to ensuring that peace and stability continue to reign in the state.

Adeleye said Amotekun is not involved in Chieftaincy tussles, land disputes, and matrimonial cases, noting that the Corps should not be dragged into such.

He warned criminals to stay off the state, saying his men are battle-ready to crush them.
