The Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State, George Turnah, has approved the creation of directorates and support structures for the party in the state.
A statement by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Derri Wright, stated that the initiative is aimed at strengthening the party’s administrative structure, which would enhance internal cohesion and effective service delivery.
The directorates are finance and administration, media and publicity, mobilisation and field operations, and internal security.
Others include, transport and logistics, planning, research and statistics, procurement (due process), and new media.
Wright explained that the directorates will be headed by directors to be appointed from each of the eight local government areas of the state, ensuring that ‘’our governance structure reflects the diverse voices of our party members and the various interests we serve.’’
He disclosed that to support the newly created directorates, the chairman has also approved the formation of eight special adviser portfolios, eight senior special assistants roles, and nine special assistants offices as a strategic enhancement, designed to bolster the governance structure and provide strong support mechanisms for effective leadership within the party.
