Governor Bala Mohammed, of Bauchi state, has received the six children of Bauchi State origin who were kidnapped and transported to Kano for sale.
The children, victims of a heinous crime, were recovered in Kano State due to the vigilance of responsible citizens who alerted security agents.
Addressing the media at the Exco Chamber of the Government House, he expressed his gratitude for the swift response of Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and his own administration’s commitment to addressing the issue promptly.
The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Awwal Musa Mohammed, conveyed that initially, there were seven children, six from Bauchi and one from Kano.
He acknowledged the support of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and Governor Bala Mohammed, emphasizing the ongoing investigation to uncover those responsible for the criminal acts.
The commissioner revealed that the unfortunate incidents started in 2016, with the most recent case discovered in 2023. The rescued children, who faced unimaginable circumstances, were handed over to Bauchi State authorities.
Governor Bala Mohammed commended the efforts of the Commissioner of Police and other security agents involved in the successful rescue operation.

He pledged continued support for law enforcement, ensuring they have the necessary tools to discharge their duties effectively.
Highlighting the seriousness of the situation, the governor mentioned that his administration has enacted the Child Rights Act into law to provide further protection against child abuse.
He condemned the acts as humiliating for the state and called on parents and communities to prioritize proper upbringing for children.
The Governor reassured that his administration would persist in supporting security agents to maintain sustainable peace and stability in Bauchi State.
