Peter Obi’s exit from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has sparked reactions from notable political figures and supporters, with discussions centered on the country’s changing political scene.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar characterized the decision as “a personal political choice,” pointing out that realignments are common in Nigeria’s democratic landscape.

He stressed the importance of consistency and ideological clarity, asserting that “Nigerians deserve leaders who are focused and steadfast.”

A former campaign spokesperson for the former governor, Yunusa Tanko, sugested that Obi’s choice might indicate deeper internal conflicts, stating that “the movement he created goes beyond party affiliations.”

Another prominent supporter of Obi, Aisha Yesufu, defended him on social media, asserting that “his vision for a better Nigeria remains unchanged regardless of the platform,” and urged supporters to concentrate on issues rather than party labels.

In contrast, some grassroots supporters voiced concerns about what they perceive as a trend of frequent political shifts.

Political analyst, Dele Momodu noted that while Obi maintains a strong personal brand, “constant changes may raise doubts among undecided voters.”

As the political situation develops, observers say Obi’s next move will be important for future alliances.

It is not yet clear if this change will strengthen his influence or cause uncertainty among supporters, but discussions about his political future are far from over.
