Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has agreed a new and improved contract with the Premier League champions, extending his stay at the Emirates beyond the expiry of his current deal.
The Spanish coach’s existing contract is due to expire at the end of the current season, but negotiations over an extension have been ongoing for several months.
Arteta has now reached a final agreement with Arsenal, although the exact length of the new contract has not been officially confirmed.
The deal is expected to keep the 43-year-old at the club for at least a decade following his appointment as Arsenal manager in December 2019.
As part of the new agreement, Arteta is also set to receive a significant increase on his current reported salary of £10 million per year, with additional performance-related bonuses.

The development comes after Arteta recently sought to reassure Arsenal supporters about his future at the club.
“They (the fans) don’t have to worry about any of that because I want to be here. I’m extremely happy and I feel very grateful to work with the people I work with,” he said last week.
Arteta took charge of Arsenal in December 2019 and has since overseen the club’s development into Premier League title contenders, culminating in their latest championship success.
His new agreement is expected to provide continuity as Arsenal seek to build on their recent achievements under his leadership.
