The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division Nigerian Army, Maj-Gen. Hassan Dada, has distributed educational materials to selected schools at Biase Local Government Area (LGA) of Cross River State.
During the distribution in the schools, Dada, who is also the Force Commander Joint Task Force South-East, tagged: “Operation UDO KA”, said that the gesture was a bid to strengthen the Civil–Military-Corporation.
The acting Deputy Director 82 Division Nigerian Army Public Relations, Lt.-Col. Jonah Unuakhalu, said on Friday in a statement in Enugu that the event took place on Thursday in the schools.
The GOC, represented by the Commanding Officer 24 Support Engineer Regiment, Lt.- Col. Audu Bako, said that the gesture was also to enhance Nigerian Army and the Division’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in its Area of Responsibility (AoR).
Among the schools that benefited from the over 150 educational materials, which covers textbooks, notebooks and writing materials are Abawan Secondary School and Urubam Primary School both in Biase LGA.

The GOC encouraged the students to be dedicated and committed to their studies as “it is the gate way to a brighter future.”
He further advised them to “be of good behaviour, shun all forms of violence and respect the rule of law.”
The representative of the GOC also paid a courtesy visit to the clan head of Abawan and urged them to maintain the existing peace.
The clan head and management of benefiting schools thanked the GOC for his kind gesture and assured him of lasting peace in the community and council area.
It could be recalled that before setting up of the Forward Operational Base at Biase LGA, there had always been communal clashes among some of the clans.
