Troops operating under Sector 3 of ‘Operation Whirl Stroke’ have arrested a member of Boko Haram in Taraba State.
A statement by the army said that on January 26, 2025, following actionable intelligence, troops tracked down and arrested the suspected Boko Haram terrorist at Mai-Hula Town, in Bali Local Government Area of the state.
The statement identified the arrested suspect as Gambo Grema, also known as Gamboi.
“During preliminary interrogation, Grema admitted to being part of a Boko Haram syndicate sent to Taraba State with the objective of engaging in kidnappings for ransom to fund their terrorist activities and establish a new operational cell in the region.

“The suspect further disclosed that the syndicate was also harboring members of the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP), who had been deployed from the Timbuktu Triangle to conduct other criminal activities in the state,” the statement read.
Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade, praised the operation’s success, reaffirming the brigade’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and ensuring the safety of citizens in Taraba State and beyond.
He assured the public that the army will continue its efforts to stabilize the region.
The commander also called on the public to support security agencies by providing timely and reliable information to aid in ongoing operations.
