The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released a revised timetable and schedule of activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, setting the stage for early political maneuvering within the ruling party.

The updated schedule, signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, outlines adjustments to key processes including screening, appeals, and primary elections.

It also provides directives on the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms, as well as details of designated party bank accounts for payments.

The announcement was formally communicated in a statement issued by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, on April 27, 2026, in Abuja.

According to the party, the revised timetable is aimed at ensuring a more structured and seamless preparation process ahead of the polls, though specific dates for major activities were not highlighted in the statement.

The development has since triggered a wave of reactions on X (formerly Twitter), with many Nigerians expressing a mix of skepticism, concern, and cautious optimism.

@NaijaPoliticsWatch commended the party for its early planning, describing it as a strategic move that could give the APC an advantage over opposition parties.

@ArewaVoice, however, questioned the timing, arguing that the government should focus more on addressing current economic challenges rather than future elections.

@Zainabtalks said: “Early preparation is fine, but Nigerians want to feel real governance now, not just election planning,” one user wrote.

@ZainabTalks criticized the move, saying that “timetable or not, APC still owes Nigerians answers on the current economic hardship. 2027 is not today.”

Concerns were also raised about internal party democracy and transparency in the selection process.

Some commenters pointed to past controversies surrounding party primaries, urging the APC to ensure a fair and credible process this time.

“There’s structure, yes, but will it be transparent?” another post queried.
Youth participation also featured prominently in the discourse, with calls for greater accessibility to nomination forms and a reduction in financial barriers that often limit the involvement of younger aspirants.

Meanwhile, political observers note that the early release of the timetable could put pressure on opposition parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party, to accelerate their own preparations.

Despite the differing opinions, the announcement signals the quiet beginning of political activities leading up to the 2027 general elections, as parties begin to position themselves in what is expected to be a highly contested race.
