Organisers of the 11th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) have unveiled an exhilarating four-day event from May 7th to May 10th, 2025, in Lagos.

This highly anticipated celebration aims to showcase the dynamism of African film and television while emphasizing the continent’s rich cultural heritage and creative prowess.

The festivities will commence on Wednesday, May 7th, with a distinguished event tagged ‘Icons Night’ beginning at 7 pm.

This special evening is dedicated to honouring the icons who have made monumental contributions to the African cinema and television landscape.

Attendees will have the opportunity to reflect on the legacies of these trailblazers, recognizing their invaluable impact and the inspiration they provide to both current and future generations of filmmakers and actors.

On Thursday, May 8th, the focus will shift to ‘Young Filmmakers’ Day’ starting at 10 am.
This day is designed to celebrate and empower emerging talents in the film industry.

A series of insightful panels, mentorship sessions, and engaging showcases will be organized to facilitate learning, networking, and skill development for aspiring filmmakers.

This initiative aims to provide the young filmmakers with the tools needed to navigate their careers successfully and make their mark in the competitive world of film.

On Friday, May 9th is the hosting of a colourful and impactful ‘Cultural Day’ beginning at 5 pm.

This vibrant celebration will immerse attendees in the diverse heritage of Africa, featuring an array of traditional clothing, authentic music, delectable food, and captivating storytelling.

With Nollywood star, Stan Nze as the host, this event promises to be a joyous occasion that highlights the unique cultural identities found across the continent, creating an enriching experience for all participants.

The grand finale will take place on Saturday, May 10th.

It will start with a glamorous red carpet event at 4 pm, where celebrities and nominees will dazzle in their finest attire.

The evening will culminate in the main awards ceremony at 7 pm.

This prestigious ceremony will recognize and celebrate the outstanding achievements of filmmakers and artists in African cinema and television over the past year.

Viewers will have the chance to witness the event live on all Africa Magic channels.

To cap off the celebrations, an after party will commence at midnight, offering attendees an opportunity to unwind and celebrate the collective accomplishments and artistry within the African storytelling community.

This year’s AMVCA is poised to be an unforgettable experience, uniting film enthusiasts, creators, and fans alike in a heartfelt celebration of the extraordinary talent that defines the African entertainment industry.
