Leaders and stakeholders of Ikot Esenam community in Oruk Anam Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State have applauded President Bola Tinubu for appointing Prof. Joseph Essien as the pioneer vice-chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology (FUATECH), Obio Akpa.

In a communiqué signed by the Chairman of the Village Council, Prof. Francis Udoudoh, and the Secretary, Mr. Dominic Utin, respectively, and made available to journalists in Uyo, the community expressed immense joy and gratitude over the appointment.
“The news of the appointment was received with immense joy and gratitude. President Tinubu’s decision to entrust Prof. Essien with the responsibility of leading the newly established university reflects confidence in excellence, academic distinction and visionary leadership,” the communiqué stated.
According to the community, the appointment is not only a personal achievement for Prof. Essien and his family, but also a landmark accomplishment for Ikot Esenam and the entire Oruk Anam Local Government Area.
The stakeholders also commended Senate President Godswill Akpabio for what they described as his unwavering support and commitment to the growth and development of Akwa Ibom State.
They noted that Akpabio has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership by attracting federal institutions and opportunities to the state, including support for the establishment of the new university.
Similarly, the community praised Governor Umo Eno for his goodwill, support and efforts toward the establishment of FUATECH.
They specifically acknowledged his approval of the Obio Akpa campus as both the take-off and permanent site of the institution.
According to the communiqué, the governor’s decision underscores his commitment to educational development and his determination to create opportunities capable of improving the lives of citizens across the state.
