Super Eagles goalie, Daniel Akpeyi, has brought his four years’ rein at Kaiser Chiefs to an end after featuring 12 times for Amakhosi in the South African top-flight league this season.
Akpeyi, who joined Kaiser Chiefs in 2019 after completing four years at Chippa United while making 92 league appearances, ended the season with Amakhosi, finishing in 5th position just above Orlando Pirates.
The 35-year-old shot-stopper with 18 caps for the national side played in the Nigeria Professional Football League in the 2014-2015 season for Warri Wolves before leaving the shores of the country to further his career in South Africa’s Premier League.

Akpeyi, who in his entire action for Kaiser Chiefs was never red-carded for a rough challenge, featured the most in the 2018-2019 season in the DStv Premier League when he made 20 appearances for the club.
However, on June 1, the Super Eagle tweeted to announce the end of an era with Kaiser Chiefs.
“An era has come and gone and a new one will begin, God has been faithful throughout this love for Kaiser Chiefs knows no bound, every part makes me strong for the journey ahead,” Akpeyi tweeted.
The Trumpet reports that Akpeyi was not in the Nigeria squad that featured against CONCACAF giants Mexico in the May 30 friendly which was hosted at AT&T Stadium, Arlington, Texas. Nigeria lost 2-1 to Mexico.
