Presidential media aide, Dada Olusegun has defended President Bola Tinubu against accusations that the federal government is shifting responsibility for the recent abduction of students and teachers in Oyo State to Governor Seyi Makinde.
The controversy began after an X user resurfaced an old statement made by Tinubu during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
In the post, Tinubu argued that responsibility for governance and national security ultimately rests with the president.
Referencing the Chibok schoolgirls’ abduction during Jonathan’s tenure, the social media user accused the current administration of attempting to blame the Oyo State government for the recent kidnapping incident involving schoolchildren and teachers.
Responding to the criticism, Olusegun insisted that Tinubu has never denied the occurrence of the abduction and has taken responsibility for addressing the situation.

According to the presidential aide, there is a clear distinction between the current administration’s response and the handling of the Chibok abductions under the Jonathan administration.
“Unlike Goodluck Jonathan, my boss has taken full responsibility for the incident and has never denied it happened,” Olusegun stated during the exchange on X.
The comments have since generated debate on social media, with Nigerians expressing differing views on accountability, security challenges, and the role of federal and state governments in responding to kidnapping incidents across the country.
The abduction of teachers and pupils in Oyo State has continued to attract national attention, with security agencies intensifying efforts to secure the safe release of the victims.
