The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has nabbed two vandals and recovered truck-loaded with stolen railway lines slippers in Eha-Amufu community in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The Commandant of NSCDC Enugu State Command, Mr Cyprian Otoibhi, said this while briefing newsmen on Monday on the renewed efforts of the Command to checkmate activities of infrastructural vandals and thieves in the state.

It would be recalled that earlier on Oct. 22, NSCDC officers apprehended four vandals and recovered truck-loaded with cut rail lines worth multi-million naira hidden in sawdust bags from the same community.

Otoibhi said that the feat, which was achieved on Oct. 27 at about 6:30a.m,, followed a NSCDC patrol team from the Isi-Uzo Division of the NSCDC acting on credible intelligence from an informant.

According to him, the NSCDC patrol team intercepted a truck fully loaded with stolen cut railway lines slippers in Eha-Amufu community.

Again, NSCDC nabs 2, recovers truck-loaded with railway slippers, other in EnuguHe said that the recovered 750 metre lengths of cut railway lines were valued at multi-million naira.

“The driver and his conductor were arrested in connection with the crime.

“The suspects are currently undergoing questioning at the NSCDC Enugu State Command Headquarters.

“The suspects apprehended are: One Nuhu Idris, 34, and One Danjuma Attaboh, 37.

“Items recovered included: one blue faced and red body coloured long truck with registration number: APP 940 XI (Lagos) and 750 lengths of cut railway lines valued at millions of naira.”

The commandant commended the swift action of the patrol team and reaffirmed the Corps’ dedication to combating all forms of vandalism and sabotage of public infrastructure.Again, NSCDC nabs 2, recovers truck-loaded with railway slippers, other in Enugu

“The protection of critical national infrastructure, such as railway lines, is a priority for the NSCDC.

“We will continue to work relentlessly to ensure that such criminal activities are curtailed and those responsible are brought to justice.

“I urge members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities around public assets.

“Investigations are ongoing, the apprehended suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation,” he assured.

Otoibhi reiterated the Command’s continued call on the public to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and actionable information that would aid in the fight against vandalism and other crimes.
