President of the African Development Bank, Dr Akinwumi Adesina, has been drafted into the 2023 presidential race as 28 groups at the weekend procured the N100 million Expression of Interest and Nomination forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for him.
The forms was collected by leader of one of the groups, Youth Arise Movement, Comrade Ademola Babatunde. The groups consist of Youth Arise Movement (YAM), Nigerians in Diaspora, One Nigeria Group, Prudent Youth Association of Nigeria, women groups, farmers, People With Disabilities, and other civil society groups.
Comrade Babatunde told journalists at the International Conference Centre, Abuja after collecting the receipt for the N100 million paid into the APC account, that the groups are concerned about the recruitment process into the Nigerian political space and went in search of a credible compatriot capable of leading the country come 2023.
He said “we are 28 groups precisely that came together after a very serious consultation, deliberations on the way forward for a better and united Nigeria. We unanimously decided that though the money is outrageous but if we truly wants a better future for ourselves and our children and our land of birth and soil of origin, we must put our resources together to obtain the forms for Dr.Akinwumi Adesina.

“We are very much aware of the critical time that Nigerians and our country Nigeria is going through. “If we fail to support a candidate of credible and worthy note, an icon of unblemished integrity as Dr. Akinwumi Adesina to come on board and contest for the Presidential race come 2023, we will eventually handover this country to mediocres who will finally destroy our common wealth.
“This is one of the supports we are fundamentally and passionately determined to render for ourselves by putting Akinwumi Adesina forward to Nigerians.”
The groups promised to mobilise massively in coming days by reaching out to all stakeholders and ensuring the whole world to support Adesina to become the flag bearer of the APC.
