History was yesterday made in Adamawa state, as the state governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, sworn in the first female Judge.
Justice Hapsat Abdurrahman, was sworn in as the state first female Acting Chief Judge in the council’s chamber in the state government House.
Being the most senior judge in the state, Hapsat succeeded former Justice Nathan Musa who recently retired from the service.
Elated to have been the first governor in the history of the state to have appointed a woman as the state’s acting chief judge, he viewed the development as a triumph for the womenfolk.
He said “this historic event represents a profound step forward for our State and womenfolk who now see themselves reflected on our highest court”.

He charged her to continue to exemplify the virtues of hard work, perseverance and grace for which she is known for.
Tasking the judiciary on the forthcoming general elections, he admonished them to give confidence to the electorate and ensure effective resolution of election-related conflicts.
Visibly elated by the honour bestowed on her, Hapsat vowed not to take the position for granted, stressing that she saw it as a trust and opportunity to contribute to the growth of the state and the country at large.
She pledged to discharge her duties with honesty and in accordance with the law.
