Akwa Ibom chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dragged the member representing Uyo federal constituency in the House of Representatives Hon Mike Enyong for falsely claiming to be the winner of the PDP governorship primary election conducted last year in the state.
The party disowned the lawmaker insisting that Pastor Umo Eno remains its authentic candidate for the 2023 governorship elections in Akwa Ibom State.
In Appeal suit no CA/AB/CV/120/2023 an Appeal filed by PDP at the Court of Appeal in Abuja, challenging the judgement of a lower court on the matter in favour of Mr Michael Enyong’s claims as well as a stay of execution notice in the same court pending determination of substantive summons, the party prayed the court to nullify ruling of the lower court and uphold Pastor Umo Eno as the party flag bearer in March 11, 2023 governorship poll in the state.
Speaking to newsmen in Uyo on Friday, the Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Research and Documentation Hon Essien Ndueso said hearing on the matter at the Appeal Court will commence next week.
“Following the pending appeal by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, a federal high court in Abuja has adjourned hearing on the applications by the Governorship Candidate of the Party, Pastor Umo Eno.”
He said the authentic governorship candidate of PDP Pastor Umo Eno in Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/1295/2022 is applying to be joined in the suit as an interested party and was also praying that the court grant stay of execution in the judgement given two weeks ago as well as set aside the earlier judgement.

Meanwhile, the Federal High Court presided by Justice Obiora Egwatu, upheld the arguments of Mr Enyong that since the PDP has already filed an appeal at the appellate court on the same matter, it was necessary for the High Court to adjourn till March 15, when the matter would have been concluded at the Appeal Court.
It would be recalled that the defeated governorship aspirant of the party, Michael Enyong had gone to the Federal High Court in Abuja to obtain a judgement after declaring himself the authentic winner of the PDP primaries which he conducted in his compound at Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo after he lost out at the main party primary supervised by party officials and Independent Electoral Commission at Akwa Ibom state International stadium.
“The pending applications for stay of execution by both the PDP at the Appeal Court and the PDP Governorship candidate at the lower court affirmed that Pastor Umo Eno remains the candidate of the PDP for the Akwa Ibom State Governorship race,” he said
