The Youth Economic Intervention and De-Radicalization Programme (YEIDEP) has re-entered public discourse as Wema Bank begins sending account numbers to applicants of the initiative.
This development is the first tangible sign of progress after nearly a month of inactivity, rekindling hope for many young Nigerians.
Applicants for YEIDEP have reportedly begun receiving SMS notifications directly from Wema Bank about this new advancement.
The message states: “Congratulations! Your YEIDEP application is complete, and your Wema account (number) is now active. Stay tuned for further information.”
These messages have quickly gained traction on Facebook and WhatsApp, with numerous beneficiaries sharing screenshots both online and offline.
For thousands of applicants, this marks the first official confirmation after months of waiting for updates regarding the program.
Initially, YEIDEP had indicated that Batch A beneficiaries would receive payments between July 1 and July 31, 2025.
Subsequently, another announcement suggested that disbursement would be postponed to October 20 – 30, 2025.
However, there has been no official press release from either YEIDEP officials or the federal government to verify these timelines.
Due to this lack of communication, applicants have been left confused.

The initiation of Wema Bank’s account opening process is being interpreted by many as a sign that disbursement may finally be on the horizon.
Wema Bank is not the only institution sending YEIDEP account numbers to applicants; other banks expected to participate in the disbursement process have also begun their operations.
A recent unofficial circular, which has circulated widely online, stated that the collection of account details would occur between September 1 and 10, 2025, following an earlier date of July 1-8, 2025.
It also mentioned that engagement with applicants would take place from September 11 to October 11, 2025.
However, there is still no official confirmation of these dates.
YEIDEP aims to assist Nigerian youth through financial support, training, and economic opportunities.
Its goal is to create jobs, alleviate poverty, and provide alternatives to negative influences.
For many young Nigerians, receiving an account number is viewed as the first step towards actual financial assistance.
The program has attracted significant attention, with beneficiaries sharing updates daily on social media.
Each new development, regardless of its size, spreads rapidly throughout communities.
Authorities and civil society organizations are advising applicants to exercise caution during this period, as fraudsters may try to exploit the situation by soliciting payments or impersonating program representatives.
