The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has officially unveiled its groundbreaking Service Charter, a bold step towards redefining service excellence, transparency, and accountability for millions of Nigerians and holders of the National Identification Number (NIN). The launch, spearheaded by NIMC’s SERVICOM Unit, signals a new era in the Commission’s drive to modernize identity management and enhance the citizen experience across its operations nationwide.

The newly introduced Service Charter serves as a blueprint for the standards Nigerians can expect from NIMC. It sets out a clear framework detailing service commitments, timelines, and responsibilities, ensuring that every citizen can access efficient, reliable, and customer-focused identity services. This milestone reflects NIMC’s recognition of the central role identity plays in enabling social participation, economic inclusion, and national development.

Under the leadership of Director General and CEO, Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, NIMC has been on a steady path of transformation, adopting innovative and technologically driven practices to boost efficiency.

The Service Charter not only spells out NIMC’s obligations but also empowers Nigerians to hold the agency accountable. It reinforces the rights of service users, promotes open feedback channels, and encourages active citizen engagement in shaping how identity services are delivered. By publishing measurable service expectations, NIMC is sending a clear message that it is committed to quality and ready to be judged by its performance.

With this initiative, NIMC is positioning itself as a modern, customer-oriented public institution dedicated to delivering exceptional identity management solutions. The launch is not just a procedural milestone, it is a public pledge to provide a transparent, accountable, and world-class service that will strengthen trust between Nigerians and the agency entrusted with safeguarding their identities.
