Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has taken swift action to address recent clashes between farmers and herders in Darazo Local Government Area, aiming to restore peace and stability in the area

The governor, accompanied by the Commissioner of Police, the state Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), traditional rulers, and other senior security personnel, convened a high-level peace meeting with community stakeholders and affected residents.

Speaking during the engagement, Gov. Mohammed acknowledged the deep-rooted and complex nature of the conflict but reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to resolving the crisis.

He recalled that the state government had previously allocated 2,500 hectares of land each in Sade and Darazo Forest Reserves specifically for farming, in a bid to reduce tension over land use.

While condemning the recent outbreak of violence, the governor appealed for calm and urged all parties to embrace dialogue and restraint.

He assured residents that his administration would intensify mediation efforts and introduce further measures to foster peaceful coexistence between farmers and herders.

Gov. Mohammed emphasized that ensuring peace and security in Bauchi State is a collective responsibility, calling on community leaders, residents, and government institutions to work together in promoting social harmony.

The intervention is part of the state government’s broader strategy to address communal tensions and strengthen inter-group relations across the state.
