The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has announced the deployment of more officers and equipment to combat the activities of once chance robbery syndicates in Abuja.
This was announced in a statement released in on Tuesday, in Abuja, by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh.
Adeh stated that the deployment is intended to improve and fortify surveillance, patrols, and stop-and-search activities within the FCT. The goal is to counteract the increasing number of one chance robberies and auto thefts in the capital territory.
She said during the period of the police counter measures, cars with defaced plates, those with only one plate number, and those without registration number will be seized, just regulations pertaining to tinted glasses and covered license plates would be enforced.

“While these operations may cause some inconvenience, they reflect our commitment to the safety of all residents in FCT. The idea is to deter criminal activities targeted at motorists and passengers,” she said.
Adeh stated that numerous stolen vehicles had been recovered and the suspected car thieves nabbed, since the deployment began.
While thanking the people for their patience and cooperation since the operation began, she advised car owners to follow the regulations.
She urged locals to report suspicious activities and cooperate with police officers during the operation.
